Hello again Amanda and Josh,

I just finished reading your updates and am glad to hear you made it into Erwin for some R&R, I bet you both really needed it. I wanted to let you know that I posted the pic. I took of you on Whiteblaze.net (it is under HikerMan36 picture entries), I hope you don't mind but I thought that you might like to see it as well as your family and friends. I hope you guys continue to enjoy your hike and I look forward to following your progress.

I'm glad you guys updated. I was starting to wonder if you'd been eaten by bears. Also, thanks Willy and Karen for updating here as well that our hikers are safe. :)

And... Outhouse picture! Made my week. :)

Happy ST. Patrick's Day! We spent yesterday spreading mulch in high-60s-degree weather (a far cry from snow on Snowbird Mt.!), but none the less still thinking about all the folks we ran into on the AT last week between I-40 and the French Broad River. Give us a day and we'll try to send some of this nice spring weather your way...

Our test run on whether to attempt a thru hike ended with the only remaining question being whether to do it in 2010 or 2012. I think the infectious enthusiasm of the people we met on the trail was the deciding factor. Now if we can just figure a way to cut out 60 pounds of our combined pack weights!

Best of luck in the miles to come. We'll be tracking your progress on the way north, but with a good bit of confidence, as you both have "2000-miler success" written all over you!

Let us know sometime if you need a Care package...

I ran into Josh and Amanda this morning on the trail about 2 miles above Sam\'s Gap and I recognized them from their journal here and on Trailjournals.com. We talked for a little while and they seemed to be in good spirits despite the lousy weather they have experienced so far. I wish you guys the best of luck and hope you enjoy the rest of your hike. I look forward to reading your journal entries and seeing all of your pics.

Just to let everyone know that the kids are doing great and still enjoying the hike except for the weather (some cold days and rain). Last heard from 3-15-08 stopping for the night at Hogback Ridge Shelter due to the weather. Should be stopping in Erwin, Tn. no later than 2 days from now, hoping to update the web site then.
